A fantastic addition DOOM (2016) brought to the series is the Glory Kill. By performing especially brutal close quarters kills in exchange for extra health, armor and ammo, the game encouraged players to get real friendly with enemies instead of just slinging bullets from a distance.
With DOOM Eternal preparing to bring even more feats of gruesome athleticism to the party, it’s a good time to take a look at some of our favorite finishers.

In DOOM Eternal, the Slayer comes bearing a nifty new weapon: the DOOM Blade, a retractable sword attached to his left arm. In case you were wondering what it’s for – here’s something to stir your imagination:
Here we see a Zombieman coming to a very pointed end. By inserting said Blade into the enemy’s open mouth, the Slayer punctures the palate, brain, and skull swiftly and decisively.
It’s a magnificent physics lesson in force, momentum and the effectiveness of one of the simplest tools known to science, the wedge. Also, it’s very DOOM to recreate that enemy’s-head-on-a-pike look in just a moment.
With just one sharp implement added to the Slayer’s already impressive arsenal of demon-dispatching weapons, a whole new world of Glory Kill opportunities are possible in DOOM Eternal. Trust us, this isn’t the last time the Slayer gets creative with the DOOM Blade.
