Getting Stronger in DOOM: The Dark Ages

DOOM: The Dark Ages’ sprawling battlefields are packed with demons to slay, but they also contain their own secret areas and hidden caches waiting to be discovered. Finding these areas and their rewards is essential to progression and upgrading your demon-slaying kit. Read on to learn how you can unleash the full potential of the DOOM Slayer!

GOLD CHESTS & RUBIES & WRAITHSTONES (OH MY)

In addition to pickups like Health and Armor, players can find ingots of Gold and entire Gold Chests scattered throughout levels. Collect as much Gold as you can carry to spend at Sentinel Shrines. Once located in a map, the Slayer can invest his treasure hoard at Shrines to upgrade his guns, melee attacks and Shield Saw. In addition to Gold, precious Rubies and rare Wraithstones can be spent on higher tier unlocks – spend them wisely!

BUILD UP YOUR ARSENAL

Players will unlock a growing arsenal of weapons as they progress through DOOM: The Dark Ages' campaign, with several sharing a weapon class. Weapons in the same class share the same ammunition and can be switched between each other with a single button press but are each unique weapons with their own upgrades to unlock! Experiment often and find the loadout that feels best for you.

HARROW THE LEADER

Upgrading your gear at Shrines is only one way to get stronger in DOOM: The Dark Ages. Powerful Leader Demons lurk in certain areas, offering the Slayer a greater challenge than their rank-and-file counterparts. Do what the Slayer does best and not only will you cut these monstrous warriors down to size, but you will also rip out and absorb their Essence, permanently increasing your Health, Armor or ammunition cap. Now that’s ‘gains.’

PULL OUT THE OL’ TREASURE MAP

Need to find your bearings? DOOM: The Dark Ages’ AutoMap feature offers a quick and handy tool for navigating the environment, pinpointing the location of objectives, Sentinel Shrines, hotspots of demonic activity, Ruby statues and more. It can even point out Gold pickups and Collectibles, so make good use of your AutoMap to not miss out on a single thing on your journey to forging your deadliest DOOM Slayer.
